Why some payment methods are excluded
Casinos exclude certain payment methods from bonuses for two reasons. The first is bonus abuse: e-wallets and vouchers were historically used to open several accounts and claim the same welcome offer over and over. The second is cost: some methods, such as phone billing, carry high processing fees that make a bonus expensive for the casino.
Bonus eligibility by payment method
| Method | How often excluded | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Debit cards | Rarely | The safest choice for claiming a bonus |
| Apple Pay / Google Pay | Rarely | Processed as debit card payments |
| Trustly / Pay by Bank | Rarely | Treated like bank payments |
| PayPal | Occasionally | Much less common than it used to be |
| MuchBetter | Sometimes | Varies by casino |
| Paysafecard | Often | Anonymous vouchers attract abuse |
| Pay by phone / Boku | Often | High processing costs |
| Skrill / Neteller | Often | The most commonly excluded methods |
The 2026 bonus rules
From 19 January 2026, the Gambling Commission introduced two changes that affect every UK casino offer:
- Wagering capped at 10x. No UK promotion can require you to wager a bonus more than ten times before you can withdraw. Offers with 35x, 40x or 50x wagering are a thing of the past at licensed casinos.
- No mixed-product promotions. Operators can no longer make you gamble on one product, such as sports betting, to unlock a bonus on another, such as casino games.
These changes make offers simpler and fairer, but they don't change which payment methods qualify. You still need to check the payment terms.
How to check whether your method qualifies
- Open the offer's full terms and conditions, not just the banner.
- Search the page for "Skrill", "Neteller", "Paysafecard", "excluded" or "qualifying deposit".
- Check the minimum qualifying deposit, which is usually £10–£20.
- Look for any opt-in step or bonus code that's needed before you deposit.
Our offer cards do this for you. On every payment method page, our listings flag any casino where that method doesn't qualify for the welcome offer.
Depositing by card, withdrawing by e-wallet?
It's tempting to claim a bonus with a debit card and then switch to Skrill for fast payouts. Remember the closed-loop rule: casinos usually return withdrawals to your original deposit method first, up to the amount you deposited with it. Only winnings above that amount can go to a different method. Plan your payment methods before you start.
Withdrawing while a bonus is active
Under UK consumer rules, your own deposited cash shouldn't be locked behind bonus wagering. You can normally withdraw your real-money balance at any time, but doing so will usually cancel the bonus and any winnings from it. Read the offer terms so you know which balance you're playing with.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I get a bonus with Skrill or Neteller?
Many casinos exclude e-wallet deposits because they were historically used to claim bonuses across multiple accounts. Use a debit card, or choose a casino that accepts e-wallets for its offers.
What is the maximum wagering requirement in the UK?
From 19 January 2026, wagering requirements on UK gambling promotions are capped at 10 times the bonus amount.
Which payment method is best for claiming a casino bonus?
Debit cards (and Apple Pay or Google Pay using a debit card) are the most reliable. They are almost never excluded from welcome offers.
Can I withdraw my deposit if I have an active bonus?
Usually, yes. You can normally withdraw your own cash balance, but any active bonus and its winnings will typically be forfeited.
